Extron Expands Twisted Pair Lineup With Three New High Resolution Switchers

Anaheim, California (June 9, 2004) – Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce three new additions to its twisted pair product family. The SW2 MTP T 15HD A, SW4 MTP T 15HD A, and SW6 MTP T 15HD A are two, four, and six input, one output computer-video and audio switchers with an integrated twisted pair transmitter. Each model transmits a selected computer video and summed mono (L+R) audio signal to a compatible twisted pair receiver. Each switcher also features a second audio output from a 3.5 mm captive screw connector for sending a balanced or unbalanced analog stereo audio signal to a local amplifier. The SW MTP 15HD A Series can be used with Extron Enhanced Skew-Free™ AV UTP cable (patent pending) or any CAT 5, 5e, or 6 data grade twisted pair cable for point-to-point cable runs of up to 600 feet (185 meters) with XGA signals, and 450 feet (135 meters) with UXGA signals. "The SW MTP 15HD A Series switchers are loaded with advanced features, including autoswitching, remote control via RS-232 or contact closure, and the ability to send high resolution video and audio signals over one UTP cable," says Lee Dodson, vice president of marketing for Extron. The dual-function remote control port supports both RS-232 communication and contact closure control on the same 9-pin D-sub connector, allowing for a wide range of monitoring and control options. The RS-232 control supports bidirectional communication for remote monitoring and control using Extron MediaLink®, IP Link®, or third-party control system.
